How to Send Revolar Alerts if the iPhone App is Force Closed

Our goal has always been about empowering people like you to better protect themselves and their loved loved ones. So when we realized early in our testing that iOS app limitations prevented Revolar users’ from sending alerts when our app was force closed, we knew we needed to take action (these limitations aren’t an issue on Android smartphones).

We immediately created a screen to inform users not to force close the Revolar app. Over the following months, our engineers worked tirelessly to find a more comprehensive fix. Today, we’re excited to announce that they’ve combined multiple technologies to build a solution that’s now available to you as a firmware update! Once you’ve installed the new firmware, your Revolar wearable will be able send alerts even if the app isn't running in the background.

We still recommend keeping your Revolar app running in the background, and only relying on this new firmware functionality as a precaution. And please note that your Revolar wearable and paired smartphone must be in close proximity at the time an alert is triggered for this new feature to work reliably. Now, let’s get you set up with this added layer of protection. Here’s how to update your firmware:

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of the Revolar app (open the App Store and tap updates. If an update is available for Revolar please install it).
  2. Open the Revolar App on your paired smartphone.
  3. Tap “Account” or "Settings".
  4. Tap “Update my firmware”.
